If you read my last post, you’ll see that I made some pretty spectacular prime rib!!! I had a bit leftover, and didn’t want to reheat it since I didn’t want to overcook the meat. So I decided to slice it up and make a Thai steak salad! Eating lots of salad reminds me of summer, and Vancouver had a bout of sunny weather a while ago, so I was quite happy eating my steak salad by the window in the sun, pretending it was warm out! As a funny side note, I recently told a friend about how I made the steaks, and when I said “and then I broiled it” he yelled aghast, with a horrified expression on his face “YOU BOILED IT?!?!”, and in a split second I saw all the respect he had for me as a human being disappear. And so I said “noooo, BROILED not BOILED! I’m not English!!!” and redeemed myself.. Don’t boil your steak, folks.
Also… It’s holiday season now! Get ready for a flood of epic recipes! This girl will be cooking up a storm!!! But for now… Thai steak salad!
- Sliced steak
- Red onion or shallots
- Cherry tomatoes
- Fish sauce
- Brown/palm sugar
- Red chili
Mix the steak strips with lime juice, brown sugar, and fish sauce. Then, add everything else. Make sure it tastes balanced. If it’s too sweet, add more lime juice/fish sauce, or too sour, more sugar. This was super easy to make, and was delicious. Stinky, but delicious!
